Hate the Sensors

I love my stove with the exception of the sensors on the burners. As far as I am concerned I can certainly do without them. At eighty years old, I have yet to burn anything or have anything like oil running over onto the stove and catching on fire. The sensors are a nuisance when trying to boil water for gumbo or spaghetti as they turn the heat off and stay off for a good while. A waste of time to say the least. I wish something could be done about those sensors!

Absolutely sucks changes temperature on the stove when it decides too it gas burnt so much food and the oven has a mind of it's own it is not child proof !!!!! The timer alarm is so low you have no clue it went off unless your standing right next to it then it will decide ur done cooking and shut down or the burners just randomly get hot as the can with out changing the setting this stove is f&$%%ed up !!!!!

Firstly, Hello ALL range manufacturers listen up! I did a lot of research trying to find an electric coil range that didn't look the same as 50+ years ago. I wanted a self cleaning one with no controls in the back so I'd have a nice unobstructed view of my gorgeous backsplash to my hood. The housing development where I live, offers NO gas. I needed an electric coil range because I use cast iron pans. I was advised not to get a smooth top because the cast iron pans would ruin the top if the pans were dragged. Well jeez, here's a news flash; cast iron pans are heavy and of course they will be dragged! It's ridiculous there are no other electric coil top models that have an updated appearance with 2 large coil burners and 2 small coil burners and a drawer under the oven. I looked. I bought it for the look of it and the large oven. I am renovating my kitchen, it appears a little more modern than the still archaic looking coil ranges 2) All Whirlpool did with this range was take the rear top, where the knobs are, and weld it on the front, therefore it juts out quite a bit in front because of that. So the rear burners are harder to reach. I'm a woman at above average height of 5'6", with long arms and I have to stand on tippy toes to see the entire pans on the back burners! How this is rated ADA compliant is a mystery. I'm sure someone got their palm greased, $$. Yes, a person in a wheelchair can better reach the controls in the front, but there is no way they can see and maybe not even reach, the back burners AND there ar no models in the store to see or try this out 3) Because all Whirlpool did was take the back knob control unit off and weld it to the front, the burners and controls are all backwards, not a big deal but you'll have to get reacclimatized to which knob controls which burner. 4) Again because whirlpool took the clunky control panel from the rear and welded it to the front, your oven is lower and the drawer is smaller. 5) There is a huge gap between the front controls and the oven door. So even with the door closed, you can clearly see all the stickers (model & serial #, warnings, etc) on the inside of the door face, the stickers are white and neon orange. The huge gap makes this expensive stove look cheap. 6) It came with no instruction booklet, only a booklet for installation. There are no instructions online either. Not a big deal you say? Well, you're wrong. If you don't use the Lasagna or Pizza button to preheat the oven you'll be waiting hours for it to get to temperature. 7) The top doesn't open so be careful not to spill anything that can get past the drip bowl there is no way to clean it. 8) It cooks well, I haven't had any issues with it shutting off as others have commented on, but I use heavy Calphalon and cast iron pans 9) The handles are too bulky and high, just as another commenter said. But remember Whirlpool chose a cheap update why in the world would they put nice, new, sleek, smaller handles, which would probably cost them 5 cents each due to their buying volume, on a barely thought out remodel such as this? 10) In conclusion: I'd say buy a different range, if your reasons are the same as mine, but there aren't any if your only choice is electricity. I'd have switched to gas if I could, many more options in gas.

Replaced a 30 yo GE range. Appears to be a close replacement but wish the reminder tones were either louder or adjustable high/low like washers/dryers as the reminder tones aren't loud enough, especially if there is other noise nearby.

Gone downhill since the last buy

I bought the same model to replace my stove of over 25 years-what a difference! The pan drawer in the bottom was so much smaller I had to get rid of 3 pots. There is no longer the mechanism (or at least I can™€™t find it) to lift the top up which makes cleaning very difficult when something boils over. The burner pans are nearly impossible to clean even with the most intense scrubbing-they™€™re like something you™€™d find at the Dollar store. Overall, just a MUCH more cheaply made model than what I previously had. Would I recommend? Probably as sure everything is made this way now & know there™€™s probably no way I™€™ll get 25 years from this appliance.

Paint coming off

Purchased a month ago, stove top and oven are great. Don™€™t like the placement of the knob and settings panel. When cooking everything falls or drops on it. Over time will probably not be good. Also paint around burner spill pans is all scarred up from the burners and I™€™ve only used the burners a few times. With more useage paint will be off. The marks will not clean off so I think it™€™s going to rust with use. Not real happy with this part of stove.

Love its simplicity

Had it now about 20 days. Like it pretty well, heats up fast. But when i put it on simmer, it just lasts a couple minutes and then the food item stops simmering, which i don't know what to do about. Rice stops cooking, simmering soup stops simmering. Much of my cooking requires simmering, so this is disappointing

Inadequate documentation to use product

The Owner's Manual linked to this product is excellent for installation, but it is not a User's Manual. All the manuals and technical documentation included with product and currently linked to it on the website do not provide adequate instructions on how to actually use this model. The canned responses of the chat feature of the Whirlpool website does not help find the user manual. This makes for an incredibly frustrating customer experience. For example, the oven door must be closed for the broiler heating element to stay on more than about 20 seconds. One of the linked recommendations was to leave the door open 6 inches. That prevents the broiler on this appliance from operating more than about 20 seconds. Many of the complaints about the broiler operation of Whirlpool ranges might be due to the inadequate documentation. There were no instructions to most of the electronic control pad features. After I downloaded 25 different manuals from Whirlpool and other sources, the one that best matches the controls, operations, and behavior of the WEC310S0LW is the document with file name " owner-manual-w11333124-rev-a.pdf ". It was located by searching on duckduckgo with key words: Whirlpool range instructions lasagna pizza broiler, it downloads from "https://www.whirlpool.com ™€º content ™€º dam ™€º global ™€º documents ™€º 201905 ™€º owner-manual-w11333124" . My profession involved technical writing; the file I found is 100 times better suited to this product than what is currently connected to this product.

worst stove in 70 years

where do i begin? the vent for the oven burned the wall behind the stove. the knobs stick up above the surface of the burners requiring lifting pans over the knobs. the burners are inconsistent and sometimes refuses to boil water. the touch pad programing requires pressing buttons 5 time just to set the timer, let alone program a timed bake. was way too expensive for what i got. replaced this badly designed pile of sheet metal after less than a year with an induction stove at the same price that works perfectly. you might as well throw your money in the river.

enamel is coming off

I noticed the enamel is coming off already when I was washing it. It has not been scraped by anything. It has hardly been used. I I will need to get paint even thought the appliance is brand new. That was not a great discovery.

I would give the range 5 stars if it had come with side flanges that cover the cutouts of the adjoining counters, like my old range did. I am aware that there are range extenders to use for this purpose, but the openings between the range and counters are not wide enough to slip the extenders in. I ordered the range from a picture and did not notice the lack, so I guess it was my fault.

first the knobs stick up over a inch in height. when holding a pan handle you hit your hand on the nobs. also you have to lift pans up over the knobs to remove or adjust. what's the point? also the digital controls are horrendous. to set the timer you have to press buttons four times to set a simple time. delayed cook is even worse. furthermore the delayed timer does NOT show the time to start as the manual says, but rather how many hours and minutes til start. and again takes 5 button pushes to accomplish. burners are consistent, but the oven only goes to 500 deg F. and what is preheat?
